Norway Launch Seminar for Cochrane’s new Thematic Group: People, Health Systems and Public Health
On 4 October, Cochrane’s People, Health Systems and Public Health Thematic Group will be welcoming colleagues to join a seminar in Trondheim, Norway and online for the Norway launch of the new group. Details of how to register for the event can be found below.
The new Thematic Group will focus on supporting the systematic uptake and integration of evidence-based interventions into health and public health systems to improve their impact on individuals and communities globally. It brings together decades of expertise from several Cochrane groups that have already collaborated effectively for many years. The creation of this new group will make it easier to collaborate and will enable the further pooling of expertise.
Group Member Rebecca Ryan explained: “Working more closely as a coordinated Thematic Group will enable cross-cutting priority topics to be identified, along with overlapping areas where research waste might be reduced. There will also be scope to explore effective and efficient ways of providing content input through new Evidence Synthesis Units and the Central Editorial Service. There are so many possibilities.”
The group is keen to engage with the Cochrane Community and this seminar aims to introduce Cochrane and the Thematic Group to colleagues and stakeholders and to discuss how to best embed evidence-informed decision-making in health and public health systems. Speakers include:
Karla Soares, Editor-in-Chief of the Cochrane Library
Prof Sasha Shepperd, Professor of Health Services Research, University of Oxford, UK and co-lead of the Thematic Group
Dr Rebecca Ryan, Head of the Centre for Health Communication and Participation, La Trobe University, Australia and co-lead of the Thematic Group
