Call for new Cochrane Thematic Groups: help us to make an impact

Cochrane is excited to announce the second call for applications to set up one of our innovative Cochrane Thematic Groups. Thematic Groups play a vital role in helping to ensure that Cochrane continues to evolve as a leader in health evidence synthesis, and that we are adapting to meet the most pressing global health challenges.

Please visit our application portal to find out everything you need to know about applying. You can also register to join one of two informal drop-in sessions scheduled on Mon 3 June at 0800 and 1500 BST.

Cochrane Thematic Groups are topic-based collectives that work to identify priority areas, engage with key stakeholders, maintain the enthusiasm of Cochrane’s extraordinary volunteer network, support the development and dissemination of high-quality evidence syntheses, and maximize our impact on global health. They will collaborate closely with Cochrane’s new Evidence Synthesis Units, once they are established, to ensure that the units can deliver impactful Cochrane evidence promptly.

Our first cohort of Thematic Groups was announced in late 2022 and rolled out over the course of 2023. They are focal points for Cochrane’s clinical, consumer and methods experts within their specific topic areas and provide valuable topic expertise to Cochrane’s central editorial team. Many of the Groups have continued to work directly on evidence synthesis development, thus supporting the content pipeline for the Cochrane Library.

By collaborating with stakeholders in and outside Cochrane, sharing skills and experience, and supporting a steady flow of manuscripts, Thematic Groups are integral to creating a sustainable future for Cochrane. Please join us on our journey to deliver timely relevant evidence that advances global health.

Applications will close on Monday 1 July 2024.
