Central Editorial Service

The Central Editorial Service manages the editorial process for the majority of Cochrane protocols and reviews, prepared within Cochrane groups or by author teams working independently. The Central Editorial Service team assess submitted manuscripts, manage peer review and see articles through to subsequent publication in the Cochrane Library. Clear, standardised expectations regarding manuscript quality, conflict of interest  and manuscript rejection have been established.

(Please note: Rejected submissions can be submitted for publication elsewhere, but without Cochrane branding.)

The service is currently being scaled up, with the editorial process for all manuscripts being managed centrally by early 2024.
